Day three of the Section 2, Area 6A basketball tournament.

January 21- The third day of the tournament featured some great games including the opening game between the Midway Lady Red Devils and the Powell Valley Lady Indians.

Midway and Powell Valley opened the semifinal rounds with a game on the girls’ side of the bracket. Midway was focused on the win, and they enlarged their lead every period. In the end, the Lady Red Devils won 46-23 in part due to 16 points by Tori Spurlock and 11 from Bryce Shields. Maizley Barnett led the Lady Indians with eight points. Midway moved into the championship game January 22. PV will play in the consolation game.

It was Hancock versus Soldier’s Memorial Middle School in game two. A close one throughout, Hancock finally sealed the victory by four points at 46-42. Gabe Barger led his Indians to victory with 20 points. Seal just missed double figures with nine. SMMS was led in scoring by Trevaur Taylor with 24 and Jacob Goodin also had double figures with 10 but it was not enough and the Indians punched their ticket into the championship game. The Devils will play in the consolation game.

Game three completed the championship game when Springdale took care of business and defeated Hancock 46-22. The Lady Owls never trailed in part by an outstanding game by both Bristol Stone and Madison Parrish. Stone dropped in 22 and Parrish had 10. Haven Reed and Maci Lawson led the Lady Indians, both with eight. Midway and Springdale will battle for the championship and Hancock will battle Powell Valley during the consolation game.

The final game was Midway versus Livesay. Midway never trailed in this one in part due to 14 points from Bryce England. England had three-three’s during the third period. For an H.Y. team that had two players out of action, each with a broken arm, scoring was hard to come by. Hudson Wilder, Bentlee Lewis and Sawyer Wallace each had four points. Midway will meet Hancock for the championship and SMMS will battle Livesay in the consolation game. *Remember all individual scores are unofficial, please consult team book for scores.
