Claiborne Middle School Bulldogs traveled to Union County, September 23 to battle the Red Devils. The game was played at Union County High School and the Bulldogs ran out the entire first quarter clock but didn’t score.
During the second quarter, the Red Devils found the end zone twice to lead at the half, 14-0.
After the halftime break, the game remained in favor of the Red Devils. By the final tick of the clock the home team had a 28-6 win with the only score for the Bulldogs delivered by a Caden Lovin run.
There was controversy from the opening quarter as only seven minutes were placed on the clock to begin each quarter, there is usually eight. When Claiborne pointed that out to an official on the sideline his remark was, “We started playing with seven, we will end with seven.”
It was tough for the Bulldogs coaches to communicate at times because one of the men working the sticks was yelling loudly in support of the Red Devils.
It was a game where the coaches on the Bulldogs sidelines knew the team had given away a potential win.
