The annual H.Y. Livesay versus Powell Valley basketball Pink Out games were held, November 14, in honor of Sherry Wilson. The various and combined sales netted $2,333.03 that was presented to Claiborne High student Tyler Holt who is currently in his own battle.
During game one, HY led 5-4 over the Powell Valley boys junior varsity team during the first and even pushed it further out to 17-4 at the half. It was 19-4 after three periods of action. HY got the win over Powell Valley 21-6. Leading the Eagles in scoring was Chandler S with eight points. Brycon Gibson and Emmitt Butler both had four points. Brycon Gibson and Kaanan Adams had two points. Collin Killion finished with one point. Powell Valley was led by Colton Lloyd with four. Korbyn Goins had two points.
The HY Livesay JV Lady Eagles played the Powell Valley Lady Indians during the second game of the night. HY led 6-0 after the first period and 19-0 at the half. Livesay had a 23-0 lead after three periods and took the game with a final score of 35-2. Leading the Lady Eagles in scoring was Allie Owens with 16 and Ava Fuson with 11. Baylee Spradlin had four, Elle Harris along with Kayla Bryant both had two completing the total. Powell Valley had only one score and that was Cabela Duverney.
The varsity girls were next to take the court and it was all Lady Eagles who took the victory at 36-9 after leading 13-3 at the half. Karlie Johnson led the Lady Eagles with 10, Kelly Hatfield had nine, Allie Owens had seven, Izzy Helton and Allie Fortner both had four points and Ava Fuson finished with two. The Lady Indians were led by Megan Weaver with four, Anna Bean had two as did Savanna Medley. The Volunteer Golf Carts Player of the game was Karlie Johnson. Congratulations Karlie!
The final game featured the Indians versus Eagles in varsity boys action. Powell Valley scored 16 but gave up 43. A 14-point first period was the catalyst for the big Livesay win. Leading the Eagles in scoring was Brady Harris with 16. Preston Zachary had 12, Cole Honeycutt had three, Jacob Tinnell and Grayson Cook finished with two points. Powell Valley was led by Luke Lloyd with 11 points and Hunter Ellison with four. The total was rounded out by Colby Weaver with one point.
