Cumberland Gap splits varsity wins with Grainger on senior night.

February 8- Cumberland Gap takes down Lady Grizz, 58-50.

The Lady Panthers led the entire night and for the vast majority of the night they were able to limit the damage to just one player from Grainger, Addison Hayes. Several Lady Panthers got in the stat book, but Emrey Glover had a great game and stood out. She had to sit part of the fourth with cramps but came back in and finished strong with free throws. Grainger tried to make a game out of it late in the fourth, but the Gap was able to make enough free throws, effectively sealing the win. Leading Cumberland Gap in scoring was Glover with 23, Hayden Beeler had 10, and four others scored six including Brynlee Foster, Gracie Nash, Callie Hoskins and Jenna Middleton. Gracie Barton had one point. Grainger was led in scoring by Addison Hayes with 23, Ava Dellenger had 11, Jaylee Hayes had six and three other Lady Grizzlies recorded scores. The Nichole Goins, Heartland Real Estate Player of the Game was Emrey Glover.

Cumberland Gap boys fall to the Grizz, 67-60.

During the varsity boy’s game, Cumberland Gap led for the majority of the game and were shooting lights out in the first half. Brady Harris and Kolton Goins led the way, with both reaching double-figures in the opening half. The Panthers went in the locker room with a 37-29 lead. It seemed like the Panthers came out flat in the second half. They were still running the same sets, but they couldn’t get the shots to fall like in the first half. Ultimately, the Grizzlies took control in the fourth and never gave the lead back once they extended it out. The Panthers offense struggled in the fourth. They still played super aggressive and were pulling rebounds and playing hard, but they just could not overcome the deficit in the final period and Grainger was clutch with free throws at the end. Leading the Panthers in scoring was Brady Harris with 23, Kolton Goins had 21, Noah Yonts had eight, Ethan Powell had six, and Kaleb Powers finished with two points. Grainger was led by Carter Williams and Kade Williams both with 20. Also, in double-figures was Ashton Creswell with 11. The Claiborne Health & Wellness Player of the Game was Harris with special recognition to Goins. * All scores are unofficial.

The seniors were celebrated for their hard work and dedication to their respective programs.
