Bulldogs use five quarterbacks, lose to Patriots 40-8

Excitement filled the air, August 27, as the Claiborne Bulldogs took the field for the first time of 2021. Union came in looking for their first win and they played lights out winning, 40-8.

A freak defensive play left starting QB Daniel Eversole down on the field with an upper body injury after colliding with a teammate. Claiborne used four more players in the position starting with Isaac Daniels who came in and filled the spot well. Soon after he too went down. He left the game because of an injury to his hand.

Union County led at the half 28-0 and were able to sustain drives both rushing and passing.

During the break, The Blue Battalion performed and Eli Stone along with Storm Livesay were honored for being named all-state last season. Their jerseys will now hang with other all-state jerseys near the gymnasium.

The third quarter scoring slowed down but late in the fourth the Patriots had extended their lead out to 40-0. Josh Bolton finally ran a score in for the Bulldogs out of the QB position and also scored the two point conversion. The game ended 40-8.

Other players spending time under center was Austin Murrell, Jason Green and Landon Poore. Claiborne will host West Greene next Friday in a huge region game.
