Cumberland Gap Lady Panthers season ends

The District Champion Cumberland Gap Lady Panthers ended the 2021 season with a 2-1 loss at Chuckey-Doak in sectional play.

Allyson Brock had one goal, Brianna Goins had the solo assist. Keeper, Natalie Johnson had 15 saves.

Coach Lorri Kimbrough spoke about her team, “This is a special team. They played their hearts out. We have played through pain and injuries this season and while we didn’t get the outcome we hoped I know a lot of teams would love to be one of the last 16 teams standing with a chance at the State Tournament. Amelia Serrenho played her last game as a Panther and she has been such a great leader and supporter to all our young players. We will all miss her.”

With the great season came many awards for individual efforts throughout the season and tournament. Abby Welch was voted the Regional Defensive Player of the Year.
Members of the All Region team:
Aly Ramsey, Abby Welch, Brianna Goins Carlie Napier and Allyson Brock.

Carlie Napier was the winner of the Regional Character Award for her perseverance and hard work this season to always play her hardest while dealing with some medical issues that would have kept most players off the field.

Congratulations Lady Panthers for a great season.
