Lady Panthers softball takes down Lady Dragons

Cumberland Gap Varsity Panthers ran off with the lead late in the game in an 11-1 victory over Harlan Lady Dragons Varsity on Thursday. The game was tied at one with Cumberland Gap Varsity Panthers batting in the bottom of the fourth when Kerry Dixon singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.

Cumberland Gap Varsity Panthers secured the victory thanks to six runs in the fifth inning. The big inning was thanks to a triple by Lacey Gulley, a single by Sidney McWilliams, an error on a ball put in play by Halle Greene, and a double by Alexia Norris.

Cumberland Gap Varsity Panthers scored six runs in the fifth inning. Gulley, Norris, Greene, and McWilliams all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Dixon led things off in the pitcher’s circle for Cumberland Gap Varsity Panthers. The righty surrendered one run on three hits over five innings, striking out seven.

Thomas toed the rubber for Harlan Lady Dragons Varsity. The hurler surrendered 11 runs on 12 hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking one.

Cumberland Gap Varsity Panthers hit one home run on the day. Greene had a long ball in the fourth inning.

Cumberland Gap Varsity Panthers racked up 12 hits. Dixon, McWilliams, Norris, Gulley, and Hayden Beeler each racked up multiple hits for Cumberland Gap Varsity Panthers. Beeler, Gulley, Norris, McWilliams, and Dixon all had two hits to lead Cumberland Gap Varsity Panthers.

The Walker and Walker Construction Player of the Game was Hayden Beeler for her great play in the field and at the plate. Congratulations Hayden!
