2022-23 Claiborne Lady Bulldogs Basketball Preview

2022-23 Claiborne Lady Bulldogs (Allie Jones not pictured due to illness)

The Claiborne High School Lady Bulldogs basketball team is once again starting the season with a new coach.  Kris Foster is the new coach, and her team has hit the court with a new energy and attitude.

The Zone asked Coach Foster about the 2022-23 Lady Bulldogs, and she said this, “We are a very experienced team with strong returning players. Some have played varsity when they were Freshmen.”

When asked about her incoming Freshman class Foster added, “We have lots of talent from the Freshman class. We have a full squad of them, and I would like to keep them together. They have a lot of good basketball sense.”

The team only has two returning Sophomores, and they are expected to give the team some good minutes.

When asked about her Juniors Coach Foster had good things to say, “Allie Jones and Ily Bussell are going to give us some great time at guard and small forward and a good supporting class will come in for us at times.”

Foster then excitedly jumped right into her Senior class, “We have a pretty strong Senior class and I’m looking forward to that. Taylor Pressnell is our fast point guard; we’ll basically We have a team full of point guards and we really don’t have true post players. They can all handle the ball well and what we lack in height we will pick up in our speed. Hannah Fugate, well she’s tough. She is going to take on the post player and she can handle it. She’s a good post player. Addie Brooks, Jordan Fultz and Emma Myatt will all play guard-forward type positions and will be essential to our success.”

When asked who the Dennis Rodman player would be, Foster smiled and said, “Hanna Fugate all the way, that’s Hannah.”

The team is expected to win games, but it is equally as important that each player improves on and off the court.

Foster added, “I just want to give these seniors a good season and something they can be proud of. They are all extremely coachable and smart and even though we lack the height we can overcome this if we play together.”

Coach Foster is a winner and wants her team to be the best it can be and with her being a new coach sometimes players don’t buy in. When asked if her players have bought in to her system she said, “I really think so. They all want to learn and want the same thing too. They want to win.”

Coach Foster wanted to send the fans this message, “The team is working hard, and I think fans will enjoy watching them play, they will enjoy watching their effort.”
