Fresh off an National Invitational Tournament runner up finish with Indiana State, Josh Schertz announced that he is moving on. Schertz greatly improved the Indiana State program just as he did with Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee.

By doing so, his status as a one of the nation’s brightest coaches continues to trend upward. St. Louis recognized this upward trend and quickly moved to make Schertz their next head basketball coach. With a contract reportedly offering 12 million over six years plus incentives, Schertz made the decision to challenge himself further. He will be looking to improve the Billikens 13-20 overall 2023-24 record.

Coach Schertz offered this comment to Claiborne County Sports Zone,  “I could not be more excited to be named the head coach at Saint Louis University. From the top-down leadership of President Dr. Fred Pestello, Chairman Joe Conran, Trustee Dr. Richard Chaifetz and Athletics Director Chris May – to the elite facilities, infrastructure, academics and resources – this a place where you can build a sustainable championship-level program.”

“On top of that, the opportunity to work, recruit and live in the great sports city of St. Louis was incredibly appealing. I can’t wait to get to work building and developing a program everyone involved with can be proud of.”

County Sports Zone will continue to provide coverage about Schertz as he remains a beloved figure in the Claiborne County area.
