Blue Devils victorious on Claiborne’s Homecoming and Senior night.

October 17- Unicoi came into Claiborne County looking to spoil homecoming and they did just that by taking home another “W” winning 49-14.  After the seniors were honored, Claiborne kicked to Unicoi to begin the game. The ever-improving Claiborne defense played well and forced Unicoi to go for it on fourth down and three. It was a turnover on downs to the home team.

Claiborne began their first drive on their own 43, but the offense had to punt.
Unicoi started their second drive on the Bulldogs 30. This drive ended in a touchdown at the 2:57 mark of the first. After the PAT was good, the Blue Devils led 7-0.
The next Bulldogs drive started on their own 47, but it too ended in a punt.
Unicoi then broke one for 78 yards for their second touchdown as the first quarter expired. The PAT was good, 14-0.
Claiborne rallied their next drive and went on a drive that ended on a fourth and goal with 6:33 remaining in the first half and a turnover on downs.
Unicoi then sustained a drive that went down to the Bulldogs 12-yard line. With 1:12 left in the half, the Devils scored through the air, and after the PAT led 21-0.
Just before the half, Braxton Ford caught a TD pass with 21 seconds remaining. The pass from Kaden Lovin on a scramble had found its mark. The PAT, however, missed, 21-6.
The first half ended with Unicoi leading 21-6.
The Class Princesses and Homecoming Queen were named at the half. The Freshman Princess was Miss Olivia Rose, The Sophomore Princess was Miss Reece Mustard. The Junior Princess was Miss Addison Pressnell, and the Senior Princess was Miss Abigail Daniels. The 2025 Homecoming Queen was Miss Myla Hensley. All the candidates knocked fund raising out of the park by raising a combined $33,627.65. Claiborne would like to thank each and every candidate for a job well done.
To start the second half, a pooch kick was recovered by Unicoi on Claiborne’s 42 to start the half. Blaze Rice ran 42 yards for the first Devil’s score of the second half. The point after was good, 28-6.
Kris Ford then returned the ensuing kick almost to midfield. That Claiborne drive ended in an Aden Roark touchdown with 8:41 left in the third quarter. The Bulldogs went for the conversion, and Roark touched the stripe with the nose of the ball for the deuce, 28-14.
CHS defense stooped the Devil’s offense again and forced a punt. Claiborne’s next drive ended in a blocked punt on the Bulldogs 35. Unicoi scored with 27-seconds left in the third, and the point after was true, 36-14.
Claiborne started their next drive on their own 38. But again, the drive stalled.
On the next drive, Unicoi scored again, making it 42-14. Claiborne’s started their next drive around the 10-minute mark. The ground game was working but they snuck a pass play in to Corbin Whitaker from the wideout position having a new jersey number. A personal foul backed up the Bulldogs up to the 43. Another penalty hurt the Bulldogs again and they threw up a pass down the sideline that was caught by Kris Ford out of bounds and once again it was a turnover on downs with 7:25 left.
Unicoi then tried to grind the time off the clock with their next drive but faced a fourth and goal with 1:23 left. They scored with 30-seconds left and the point after was good making the score 49-14. The ever improving, but still winless, Bulldogs travel to Cumberland Gap to do battle with the three-win Panthers.
The Whitaker Insurance Agency Defensive player of the game was Corbin Whitaker.
The Danny England Motors Offensive Player of the Game was Aden Roark.
