December 10- There were four games on schedule and the action started with Powell Valley girls versus Midway. In a low scoring game, it was the Lady Indians winning 13-5. Aaralyn Middleton scored eight and Maizley Barnett dropped in five for the winning Lady Indians. Midway struggled to score the basketball and Ella Worley had three with Kaia England dropping in two. The Lady Indians moved to the championship game Thursday with the win.

Game two was on the boy’s side of the bracket with Midway taking on Powell Valley. The Red Devils started off slowly but came on strong to get the win and move on to the championship game Thursday. The final was 32-10. Josiah Francis finished with 16 points.

The third game went back to the girl’s bracket and featured H.Y. Livesay versus Springdale. Livesay was on point and led throughout winning 21-4. Livesay was led in scoring by Carlie Jones with eight and Payson Hatfield with six. Kylee Powell and Zayvalee Estep both had two points to lead Springdale. The Lady Eagles win will set up a championship game featuring the Lady Indians and Lady Eagles.

The final game was on the boy’s side of the bracket with Springdale and H.Y. Livesay. This is the first surprising upset of the tournament as Livesay won the defensive battle by 10 points at 15-5. Hutson Wilder was on a mission at both ends of the floor. He dropped in a dozen points and played tight defense. He also had a great night rebounding the basketball. Tai Russell led Springdale with four points. In the boy’s championship game, it will be Midway versus Livesay.
