Mike Reece was an all-around great athlete at Claiborne County High School and after college became one of the strongest supporters of athletics in the area, not to mention, one of the most successful businessmen. Until recently, Reece was the owner of Reece Monument Company and used its success to help local athletics from Claiborne County middle and high schools to Lincoln Memorial University. He played professional softball and owned a national softball league. Reece also formed a dirt late model team featuring driver Jimmy Owens. What they did together was amazing. As a team, they won the sport’s largest and most prestigious event, the World 100 twice (2007 & 2011). The event is the Daytona 500 of dirt racing. Reece is also a philanthropist, helping the area in countless areas without ever seeking attention. Congratulations Mike Reece from Claiborne County Sports Zone and Matt Compton, State Farm.
Thank you, Matt Compton, for presenting the Claiborne Sports Hall of Fame.
