Powell Valley Girls and Midway Boys win JV Championships

December 11- The 2025 Claiborne County JV Middle School Basketball Tournament wrapped up with the Lady Indians and Red Devils winning championships. The final score of the girl’s championship game was 15-8. The tournament girls MVP, Maizley Barnett dropped in seven points to lead Powell Valley. Not far behind was Natalie Dunn with six points and Aaralyn Middleton finished the total with two. H.Y. Livesay played great on defense but couldn’t score enough points. Caylee Greene led her Lady Eagles with seven, Kenzleigh Gulley had two and Carlie Jones finished with one.

The attention then turned to the boys JV Championship Game between Midway and H.Y. Livesay. Boy’s tournament MVP Josiah Francis dropped in nine to lead the Red Devils. Collin Rosson had five, Ryder England had four and Max Bennett finished with three. The Eagles were right there with the Red Devils until the start of the third. A huge run during the third gave Midway the cushion needed to finish with a 21-6 victory. Colton Fox, Samuel Garside and Hutson Wilder each dropped in three points for the Eagles. Midway won the boy’s championship. Livesay were the runner up.

Before the championship games, there were two consolation games. The first was a girl’s matchup between Springdale and Midway. The Lady Red Devils won a defensive game 8-4. Jaina Huges led her team with four and two others had two points each, Ella Worley and Kaia England. Two Lady Owls each had two, Addie Davis and Adalyn Slusher. Midway captured third and Springdale fourth place.

The boy’s consolation game was Springdale versus Powell Valley. In a close game, Springdale was six points better tonight than Powell Valley, 20-14. Tai Russell led the Owls with eight, Eli Asher had seven, Silas Poore had three and Cruz Poore along with Barrett Parrish had one. For the Indians, Kage Goins had five, Travis Dunn and Carson McDonald each had three. Charlie Southern had two and Aaron Harp had one.
