For the last several years one could find Kris Foster at the Claiborne High School baseball diamond alongside husband and coach Stephen Foster. She has played many roles from team mom to public relations expert; however, it was announced days ago that Foster would be the new head coach of the Lady Bulldogs basketball team.
Foster will no doubt bring a total dedication to the program. She immediately got to work dissecting talent and going over the team needs and strengths.
Claiborne Athletic Director and former Lafollette Middle School basketball coach, Craig Ivey is excited about the program and the approach Coach Foster is taking, “I think Kris will bring an organized disciplined approach to our team. Kris’s previous experience coaching girls basketball will definitely be a plus for our program. I look forward to how our season will look.”
As always, the way athletes buy into new coaches is paramount to the programs’ overall success and it seems like the young ladies are ready and willing to do just that. If they buy in they will have success.
Coach Foster offered this quote about becoming the Lady Bulldogs Head Coach, “I’m looking forward to getting back into coaching girls’ basketball and hopefully providing some stability and structure to the program. We have a returning group of talented girls that play hard. I hope to give our seniors a year and season that they can be proud of while working with the younger girls on rebuilding the program for the future. My goal is for the team to become more competitive in our district but more importantly, I hope to have a positive influence on these girls moving forward.”
