The Zone is happy to announce the boy and girl students of the month, presented by McDowell Gear & Machine LLC.
The girl student of the month was nominated by Amanda Brooks who provided this quote, ” I would like to nominate Serina Baum, SMMS 6th grade, as student of the month! I am her Language Arts teacher. She works extremely hard in the classroom and has shown tremendous growth and achievement in Language Arts so far this year. She is kind to her peers, always offering a kind word and is supportive to her classmates. Each day she asks what she can do to help, whether it be cleaning, organizing, or running errands for her teachers. She is a great kid and is very deserving of recognition.”
The boy student of the month was nominated by Claiborne’s Caleb Howard who offered this statement about Cooper Brooks, “Cooper Brooks, 11th grade. Cooper is a leader in the marching band, has good grades, and works a job after school. He is a great leader and mentor to the younger students, is always willing to help when he’s needed, and has great school spirit.”
Both Serina and Cooper will be in the running for a $100 Walmart gift card from McDowell Gear & Machine and Claiborne County Sports Zone at the end of the school year. Congratulations to both and a huge thank you to the folks at McDowell Gear & Machine for providing this recognition!
