The best game that almost happened?

September 7- Cumberland Gap and Jacksboro were scheduled for a middle school battle on the gridiron at Cumberland Gap High School. Both teams were perfect on the season with identical 3-0 records. Even the weather itself wanted this game to happen as Mother Nature cooled the temperatures down with cloud cover just before the scheduled kickoff. The teams were dressed, the cheerleaders were cheering for their respective teams and the captains were ready to take the field for the coin toss when the realization set in that the officiating crew was nowhere to be found. After a few minutes of discussion by the coaches out on the field, an announcement was made to the players and fans that there was not going to be a game played on this night. Another announcement was made telling the fans that the game would be rescheduled at a later, to be determined date and to keep your ticket stubs. An evening of football full of excitement turned quickly into one of huge disappointment. The Zone will have more information on a future date when and if it becomes available. Here are a few photos of the night leading up to the moment of the announcement. The Zone- AE.
